Description
Obverse: Laureate head of Julius Caesar facing right, IMPER (Imperator) behind; CAESAR (not shown) in front.Reverse: Venus standing left holding Victory and a scepter, and leaning on a shield on a globe; E in front; M.Mettivs (moneyer) behind. This coin, circa 44 B.C., weighs 3.9 gm. I believe it to be in nearly choice EF condition. The coin is sold with beautiful presentation box and including Certificate of Authenticity from leading Numismatic firm.On March 15, the Ides of March, 44 B.C., Julius Ceasar was stabbed to death in the senate house by republican conspirators led by Brutus and Cassius. Placing his image on coins such as this contributed greatly to his assassination by Roman citizens who detested his dictatorship and feared his restoration of the monarchy.Return accepted only within 7 days of receipt of the coin. Partial refund will be issued that will not include shipping costs, and insurance, Ebay fees, and a 10% restocking fee, so bid accordingly. At the Gemini III auction of Harlan J. Berk and David Sear in January 2007, similar coins sold for $4000, $5200, and $6500. This may possibly be your last chance to get a genuine, LIFETIME portrait coin of Julius Caesar. Prices are skyrocketing!PLEASE NOTE: BY BIDDING ON THIS ITEM YOU ARE AGREEING TO OUR PAYMENT AND SHIPPING TERMSCombine shipping policy within a three day period:First item-- full shipping and/or insurance.Second item--50% off.Third and subsequent articles-- free.
