The color, paper quality & eye appeal are consistant with a VF25 grade.   The 1869 $50 Rainbow is one of the rarest type notes around. This is one for the sophisticated collector/investor. A PMG AU50 sold last year for $149,500!  More recently a PMG VF25 (that looked similar to this note) with "Toned" noted on the holder sold for over $40,000 & a lesser graded PCGS Fine 12 sold for almost $20,000 in April of this year. In addition, a PMG VF30 sold for $57500 a few months earlier in Janurary of this year. I believe I have priced this note fairly with respect to the recent sales. Whether you are putting together a Rainbow set or just looking for a really rare note this $50 is a great note for you.   PMG has given this note a Net Fine 15 grade because the note had some rust specks & pinholes that have been covered up.
